   CHILDREN ARE THE FUTURE

We believe education is power. We celebrate with pride our Latin roots, and we’ve been sharing Cumbia with children across all five boroughs of New York City — in partnership with Midori and Friends, The Berkeley Carroll School, USDAN Summer Camp, the American Dream School, and others.

  Rueda means “circle”

in this activity children learn about how communities in Colombia
gathered in a rueda to sing, dance and play music. They draw their own rueda adding each of the traditional drums we play: Tambor alegre, Tambora, llamador and maracas. It 's an observation activity.

   for adults

Welcome to Dani’s (musical director) YouTube channel, where you’ll learn Colombian percussion in a simple, accessible way. I created this space nine years ago to share the ancestral knowledge generously passed down to me by elders like Emilsen Pacheco, Petrona Martinez, Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, and Martina Camargo and communities in Puerto Escondido, San Martín de Loba, San Jacinto, Ovejas, Montería, and Barranquilla. Colombia’s Caribbean region is incredibly rich and diverse, yet many people—inside and outside the country—don’t know these traditions or how to play rhythms like cumbia. My vision for this channel has always been to give everyone, musicians and non-musicians alike, access to the music I’m most passionate about.
